美國阿肯色大學Zharov博士領導的團隊，研發了一項針對「黑色素瘤患者」、結合雷射與超聲波的檢測儀器，能以照射皮膚的方式，檢測並消滅經過表面血管的癌細胞，且靈敏度較典型的血液探測高出1000倍。
此儀器雖無法完全消滅癌症，但可增強抗癌藥的作用，或用來追蹤CTC（外周循環腫瘤細胞）水平以了解藥物效用，且研究中均保持在安全能量水平，並無副作用產生。目前已申請專利並進一步開發。
